How matching works in plain language

An exact match looks for the same term. A prefix match can find words that start the same way. Full-text matching can find the term within useful indexed content. Fuzzy matching can tolerate small spelling differences when the result still appears relevant.

Those matching methods do not bypass visibility. Private, blocked, revoked, or otherwise unavailable content stays filtered out. Filters narrow supported scopes, and pagination loads another bounded result set without changing access.

• Filters narrow the selected scope; they do not search private content a person cannot access.
• Pagination continues available results without inventing an endless feed.
• A no-result state distinguishes no visible match from a connectivity or cached-data state.

Local and cached behavior

Recent searches can remain on the device for convenience. Cached results may help the interface stay useful when connectivity changes, but an offline or stale result should not grant access that current privacy rules would deny.
